This is Who I am.
This is who I am.
Take me as I am or leave me alone.
And so we hear these words repeated by people who actuality should work on themself.
While it’s good to know who you are in God and to stand true to it, it is important that when you say ‘This is who I am’ that you are backed by God and his words and not by laziness and fear.
“Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!”
Proverbs 6:6 NIV
Sometimes it’s even Pride that gets people thinking that regardless of their lazy or uncouth behavior that people should just accept them as they are. For whatever reason they feel they are entitled to stay glued to their feet and that everyone around them should either walk on egg shells or make adjustments to accommodate them.
“How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.”
Proverbs 6:9-11 NIV
This is who I am, is very different from this is who I am in God. Everything that stems from God anyways stems from love. So when you speak in love and wisdom you would not decide to maintain a way of life just because it seems to suit you , whether it’s right or not.
It’s statements like that and beliefs like that that have held some people back by their own doing, from making necessary advancement in their life.
A person refuses to read and claims he is not that way. Or refuses to pray and claim some other excuse or refuses to plan their day and says they are a go with the flow kind of person. Some are arrogant and speak anyhow without empathy or at least respect for the receiver of their words and they say that’s just the way they are.
It’s not true. The way you actually are, is the word God designed you to be. Every time you you accept a level of association or behavior in your life that cannot be backed by God, note that it’s time to change.
The world revolves around God, not you. So you should not expect us all to make allowances for you, instead you should be able to and willing to accept personal development and changes where necessary.
Change is hard. However it’s sometimes required. No one needs to accept your unorganized, lazy, fearful, arrogant or petty ways.
So as you read this, ask yourself, what are those ways that I have stock myself in? What do I genuinely believe is my personality and nothing can be done about? Are these lies I have told myself enough (or others have told me) that I now believe? If you are wise and true to yourself, you would identify areas that need to be worked on for you to be productive.
You may find that you need to improve your hygiene, or that you need to have edifying communication skills or that you need to plan and schedule your day better.
God does not just go with the flow, he is INTENTIONAL!
Learn to be INTENTIONAL!
Don’t say I don’t feel like reading or I don’t feel like cooking or I don’t feel like doing the necessities just in a bid to spend more time in front of a screen for example?
“The hand of the diligent will rule, But the lazy man will be put to forced labor.”
Proverbs 12:24 NKJV
Learn to weigh your person and make changes where it’s called for. Changes approved by God. People who becomes role models are Intentional, aspire to be one so you can inspire yourself and others.
Have an INTENTIONAL week.
