Cursed Pride

I am better than them, so you think and perhaps so you say. You can’t seem to see why their life would turn out any good not to talk of it being better than you.

…and so you walk around with an air, an air of judgement and one of pride. Unbeknown to yourself, the air of judgement you carry is judging you before it judges others. The air of pride has so filled up your blood vessels and flown to your brain and clouded your thinking capacity. It’s affected you so much that you decided that success is naturally for you and other have to strive harder for it.

And so in pride you walk around, the only thing you are unaware of that is that pride is walking you backwards and not forward. Suddenly one day, you look around and you see, that man you laughed at, that man who you thought of as a scone is excelling far greater than you imagined. The women who you thought had fewer opportunities in life than you have learnt to strive, put in the work and trust God and so you check on them and see they have climbed way higher than you expected to and they have climbed even so way higher than you. That person, that very one, who was once your junior, the one you wrote off, the one you decided to be judge and jury over, the one you said in your heart would amount to nothing, has become everything and more than you thought of.

Suddenly you look around and you finally tell yourself the truth, you have let pride deceive you.

“Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16:18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Pride. Tame it, for it can become the very thing that delays you getting to a fulfilling destiny and maybe even destroys you. Stop looking down at the people who have come after you. Stop deciding the fate of others before you have adjudged that they cannot amount to greater than the level they are at.

“No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt themselves. It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭75:6-7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In the end, promotion comes from God. Two things I am pointing at here. Get rid of pride. Remember that promotion comes from God.

I hope you honor and respect every person, big and small, that you come across and I hope that you lean totally on God for promotion. Don’t lean on pride.

Here’s hoping we all have Blessed Humility instead of cursed pride.

Happy New Month.

May beautiful things happen for you and yours in Jesus name! Amen!
