Godfidence: Having confidence in God

There is such a thing as Godfidence. For me it’s the confidence you have about yourself and life not because of your ability or intelligence or humanity but because of God.

Confidence in itself it’s not a bad thing. We often need to have it, so that we believe in ourselves and are able to make life decisions and move along in life.

The problem though, I believe, is that confidence without God is not sustainable. I have seen people who are so confident in themselves that it almost bothers on pride. Feeling like they are high and above others and that something must be inherently wrong with other people. It’s wisdom to note as we go through life that the people we meet are in different phases of their lives and the fact that you meet a man down today, tells nothing about where he/she would be tomorrow.

“I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.”

‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭9:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God may allow certain people go through certain life happenings that could potentially shape them and set them on a path to a brighter future. So next time you look at a man or woman who isn’t seemingly right, rather than casting them down, say a prayer for them.

You yourself are only who you are because God has willed it so, in a moment everything you have can be required of you, if God wills and if you don’t act like you know the ‘source of you ‘ and appreciate Him. The fact that we are all mere mortals is the reason why we should put our hope in God and so develop confidence that is founded on the best foundation ever.

“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”

‭‭John‬ ‭15:4-5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When your confidence is set on God, you know that things unwanted may happen, but you are certain that God is able to deliver you and set you in the very place He wants you to be, sometimes even higher than you and every other person around you can dare to imagine.

So I urge you, by all means please be confident, remember though that it is in our God we should boast

“Therefore, as the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.””

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭1:31‬ ‭NLT‬‬

After all

“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I am grateful and thanking that God is molding me and renewing me and has allowed me to go through some life experiences that have or are moving me from the place of confidence to Godfidence, from a place of being a too know or know it all, to understanding plainly that the grace upon my life is not because of me, it has nothing to do with me and everything to do with God.

Are you letting yourself be positively molded? And renewed?

I hope you are having a fabulous 2018 thus far? Here is praying that God meets you at the point where you are and at the point of your need and brings you to the place you need to be. In Jesus name! Amen!

  1. The Lord says: I Came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. God has a marvelous reward in store for everyone, for every soul who is prepared to love him. It is the reward of eternal happiness in heaven, without any trace of sorrow, bitterness or sadness. He has entrusted us with the divine mission of spreading this good news throughout the world, from pole to pole. It is a mission that requires effort, sacrifice, determination and strength. It is a true spiritual battle —a battle of peace— that we have to fight, because at times people can be blinded by the devil and refuse to accept the truth and the love that saves them. Our war is a beautiful war of peace in which we sow love, forgiveness, understanding and fellowship. If we don’t get close to other people, how can we bring them to God?

    A little reflection!
